Motivation

I’ll try to separate this section into topics we often associate with Gokudera, in a sort of FAQ format. A bit of warning though, this are all based on my own perspective, I’ll spell it out M-E. It’s not how Amano sensei describe him but base on what I see on why he act that way. I just wanted to make it clear, that said let’s proceed.

Q: Why is he so loyal to Tsuna?

my A: He was never accepted in the past, his family, the group he decided to join, no one, so he felt so alone and for him that’s fine. And it was onlyTsuna who accepted him as he is and with that reason alone he is loyal to the kid. Although their relationship may seem shallow but as Tsuna shows him that acceptance, he feels like it’s something to be returned through loyalty. Although I’m pretty sure Tsuna would not obligated Gokudera to do him a favor but he sincerely wanted to be his friend. But as long as Tsuna shows that kindness to Gokudera will remain firmed to his “loyalty” to him (but I think he started to open up with him)

Q: Why does he smokes?

my A: Haha, I don’t know but according to studies there are three main reasons that young people smoke (1) to look mature (2) to be like their friends (3) and to experiment. As for Gokudera’s reason I think its number 1, he wanted to look mature, he wasn’t treated as an adult, especially if you wanted to join a group like the mafia, you must look dangerous. And smoking completes that perilous get up. Or perhaps, he was anxious and smoking may feel him more relaxed.

Why does he hate adult?

my A: points to question number 1, he wasn’t accepted by theses adults can you blame him? He had been deceived by them as well (regarding the death of his mother). Yes, it is rather a wide range but it’s really quite normal to dislike someone who doesn’t like you.
